A Fresh Look: Exterior Home Paint

I am a firm believer that a coat of paint can go a long way. You can transform the look of a room simply with a can of paint and an afternoon of painting.

But when it came time to get out house painted, we knew this wasn't a DIY project we were up for trying! So we hired Arizona Painting Company to do the job with Dunn-Edwards Paint. Overall, we are very happy with the work that was done and the paint as a product.

I told you about how picking out the right shades was a process, made easier by the kind folks at Dunn-Edwards.

Our home was a bright white (inside and out) when we bought it in November of 2008. We've painted just about the entire inside, save the guest room and guest bathroom (we'll get there eventually).  It was now time to give our white home a little warmth on the outside. It was literally a blank slate.

I told you there were lots of shades of beige to choose from!

So after three days of work, our house has a nice, gorgeous coat of paint on it.

House: Rustic Taupe, Garage & Gate: Mesa Tan, Trim: French Silk.

Backyard (obviously)

You can tell that the sunshine will really make the paint look different. The top photo is not in the direct sunlight, the bottom photo (backyard) is getting full sun.

Vacation Project

I flew to Connecticut this weekend to go to my sister-in-law's baby shower. Twins! It was so exciting and I'm happy I got to go.
Mom (Grandma!), Momma-to-be Adrienne, Me and my sister Tricia

My family and I also wanted to do what we could to help get the house ready for the babies!

I volunteered with my mom to paint two bedside tables white. They were bare wood and ready to paint.

I knew exactly what color white to get, after just finishing the vintage vanity. I went with Glidden's Muslin White in satin.

Then we went to work. A little bit of paint can really update a piece of furniture. I liked the way they looked with the white base and natural top. That would be a nice look too, but these babies were going to be all white.

So after two coats we finished them off with a slick coat of poly and they're good to go! Certainly gives them a nice feel to be finished in a crisp white. Very country, cottage, cozy feeling. :)

I look forward to my next trip to Connecticut to hold my niece and nephew for the first time! My heart overflows with joy and love!
